Project - Cat and Dog Hang Tags

This project we featured artist Judi Kauffman of Chevy Chase, MD.
The
Scor-itTM board helped in the creation of Cat and Dog Hang Tags.

Instructions:)
The projects are so easy, you'll see exactly what to do from the samples.  Sizes can vary - I thought getting either three pocket tags or six flat tags or smaller folded gift tags per 12 x 12 sheet was a good use of the paper (enough projects to be a bargain for the consumer, but few enough to make it so people will need to pick up a lot of colors as well as the puppies, cats, etc.).

Cut 12 x 12 paper into 4" strips.
For flat tags - cut 4" strips in half (for two 4 x 6 tags)
For small folded tags - fold a 4 x 6 in half
Emboss, punch, decorate as shown or as you choose.
(Note: Use a pair of scissors to cut the tag corners - the embossed lines make a great guide for matching corners with no measuring required)

For large pocket tags: Emboss lines before folding, then fold 4 x 12 strip in half and again to form the pocket (sizes vary - measurements aren't important).  Make sure that the textured side shows on the outside of the pocket flap and the front of the tag where the hole is punched (refer to samples).  Add stenciling, stamping, sponged on color, punched hearts, or whatever you want.  Make a small folded card or booklet to tuck inside (or tuck in a cat or puppy).

For all projects: Punch .25" hole, add ribbon or fibers.

Variations: Add dimension with foam dots. Add embellishments like paper flowers, hearts punched out of paper, small bows, brads or staples.

The gold ink is Encore from Tsukineko and dries really fast. I used a brand new pad with juicy ink rather than one that's almost dried out which works better for making stencils.
