Project - Halloween Haunted House Luminary:
For Halloween we featured artist Linda Presley of Bellevue, Washington's Haunted House Luminary.
The Scor-itTM board helped in the creation of her Haunted House Luminary.

Base:
Place two pieces 8 ?” x 7” black Bazzill cardstock on the Scor-it with the 8 ?” edge against the ruler. Score two 4” sections, leaving ?” remaining on the right side for tabs.
If you don’t have long pieces of paper, overlap and sew or glue shorter pieces till the strip is the length you want.
Front Door:
- Cut out the door from Sweetened Spice.
- Placing the door face down, score panels in the door.
- Distress the door with sandpaper.
- Attach the door to the front of the house and cut (or punch) a ?” circular window in the door.
- On a 1” square of vellum, draw a cross with a black marker and place inside the house behind the window.
- Cut a door frame by tracing around the door template, cutting a little outside the traced line and then again on the traced line.
- Attach frame around the door.
- Distress a 1” strip of textured grey cardstock with black ink and cut out stones for around the door.
- Attach the stones around the top of the door with glue dots.
- Stamp, color and cut out Jack (pumpkin.) Attach Jack next to the door with a glue dot.
Front Window:
- Trace the window above the door and cut out the window with a craft knife.
- Make a window frame for the top of the window from Sweetened Spice following the door frame instructions above.
- Cut a strip of Sweetened Spice cardstock 5/8’ wide for the shutters and score face down.
- Distress the shutters with sandpaper.
- Cut around the shutters.
- Place each shutter face up on the Scor-it and score along the inside edge to make a tab.
- With a black marker, draw a frame around each shutter, fold back the tab and attach to window side with glue dots.
- Cut window sill from Sweetened Spice, score face up, distress with sandpaper and attach with thin strips of mounting tape in the crease of the sill.
- Cut a piece of vellum for the window and attach inside the house.
- Stamp Buster (ghost) and attach to the inside of the house with a glue dot being careful the glue dot is not on the vellum.
- Stamp, color and cut out Pumpkin. Attach Pumpkin on the window with a glue dot.
Back Window:
- Trace the upper portion of the front window on the back side of the house and cut out the window with a craft knife.
- On a piece of vellum, draw bars with a black marker and attach inside the house.
- Stamp and cut out Barnabas (bat.) Attach Barnabas to the outside of the window with a glue dot.
Tree:
Punch the tree from BasicGrey (Hang 10) Carve and attach to side of the house with a glue dots.
Fence:
Cut Sweetened Spice cardstock 1 1/8” x 2 5/8”, score face down, distress the front and cut pickets along the top. Attach the fence with glue dots.
Sides:
- Trace the side window on each side of the house, cut out the window and finish with vellum as before.
- Make window frames from Sweetened Spice following the door frame instructions above.
- Stamp and cut out Midnight (cat.) Attach Midnight to the outside of one of the side windows with a glue dot.
- Stamp and cut out Buster (ghost) again. Attach the second Buster behind the other side window on the inside the house with a glue dot being careful the glue dot is not on the vellum.
Assembly:
- Cut the top angles.
- Lay adhesive on the outside of both tabs and construct the house being sure to place the tabs on the inside of the house
Roof and Chimney:
- Cut the roof from Sweetened Spice cardstock and score.
- Cut out the chimney from the grey textured cardstock and distress with black ink.
- Score and fold a small piece of black paper. Trace and cut the chimney top. Attach to the top of the chimney with adhesive.
- Make a slit in the top of the roof, insert the chimney and attach the bottom of the chimney to one inside side of the roof.
- Stamp, color and cut out Druzilla (witch.)
- Stamp, color and cut out the portion of Druzilla that is her dress and hair up to her hat.
- Tape one end of a 4” piece of black wire on Druzilla’s dress. Attach the cut out dress on top.
- Using a black marker, color the back of Druzilla black.
- Stamp, color and cut out the broom. Color the back of the broom black
- Glue the top of the broom to Druzilla’s hand.
- Pierce a hole in the crease of the roof and insert the remaining end of the wire in the hole. Tape the wire to the inside of the roof so Druzilla appears to be lifting off on her broom from the roof top.
- Lay adhesive along the bottom of each side of the roof and attach the roof to the house front.
Illuminate with a tea light or votive candle.
