April, 2008 Newsletter

Welcome to Scor-it News, a monthly eNewsletter publication from the makers of Scor-it Board and Scor-it Mini.

Glad Tidings
Lots of good things to tell you about this month, starting with the long-awaited news that both the original 12-inch board and the brand new Scor-it Mini are again in stock in abundance!

The 12-inch board weighs less and, thanks to a great new deal with our new manufacturer, costs less! We have added two clever new items to our accessories line: PermaSoft wax (to help you achieve a smoother score) and a custom-designed zippered Scor-it tote for the Mini. The tote is perfect for storage or travel and at $8.95 makes a great gift. We’re busy developing other products and will let you know about those as they become available.

Our newly designed website has launched! Take a look at www.scorit.com. An enormous amount of research and effort have gone into making the site useful to you. The site is packed with project ideas (including instructions), webisodes, Scor-it news updates, articles, reviews and links to published projects. And let’s not forget to spend a moment admiring our fabulous new look and feel that we hope entices you back to see what’s new on a regular basis.

Dealers – your website area has been enhanced! You can now order online quickly and with ease. Remember to check out our dealer-exclusive “Project of the Month” in the password-protected Retailers/Dealer area of the site (password: dealers). After one month on the site, we introduce the Project to the general public.

We know your time is precious. We promise to keep our newsletter short but informative and to include timely information and useful ideas for projects and classes.

We value your feedback – please send us your thoughts, ideas and critiques any time at info@scorit.com.

You Asked, We Answer
Q - What’s the difference between the Scor-It Board and other scoring tools?

A - This is one of our favorite questions.  The Scor-It Board is the ONLY scoring tool on the market that allows consumers to make professional quality hinge score lines, just like printers provide when they do machine scoring.  Hinge score lines crease, but do not break or damage the fibers in paper, card stock and board up to 24 pt. - whether you score with or against the grain!  The difference is easy to see.  The Scor-it brochure, available on our website in the Learning Center, goes into more detail about the importance of a quality score.

Q - Could you compare the 12” Board with the Mini?

A – Both boards are quite popular and we’re discovering that many people want both. Those who make cards and smaller projects favor the Mini for its portability and small size.  Those who want to score decorative embossed borders, create journaling lines on 12” scrapbook pages or make larger cards and accordion books like the original 12” Scor-It Board.

Q - How should I display the Scor-It Boards?

Class and Demo Ideas
It’s wedding season!  Invite customers to a class on how to create and customize wedding and bridal shower invitations, placecards, thank you notes, and more. Brides-to-be will certainly appreciate how easy, fast and elegant it is to create embossed lines.  Cross-sell card stock, envelopes, embellishments, adhesives, and rubber stamps.

Look for Scor-It: Explore It, by Tim Hammonds in the April issue of Scrapbooking.com. Accompanying the article is a Flag Brag Book project by Suzanne Cannon (Quietfire Design).  In addition to being available to that site’s estimated 300,000 visitors for the month of April, it will also remain in our online archive.

Did You Know?
Did you know that your customers may use the Scor-It board to create the look of square tiles with grout lines?  It’s easy!  Place the card stock face down against the board; score at even measured intervals. Rotate the stock and repeat at the same intervals. Turn over so the lines are debossed, like grout between tiles. Add color to the raised areas (the tiles) with ink, chalk, or paint.  Add rubber stamping, embossing powder, or other effects.

Great Finds!
If your customers like to apply ink to the embossed raised ridges or tiles they create with the Scor-It Board but don’t want to get their hands dirty, introduce them to The Smudgee from Tsukineko. This innovative product covers four fingers, like a partial mitten, and it’s washable and re-usable.
